Henrik Öhrström.

Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. Born in 1972 and raised in a rather Transhumanistic spirit by parents with the opinions but without the philosophy.

Proclaimed himself as transhum anist after reading the great mambo chicken and the transhuman condition by Ed Regis in 1991.

Started his Academic career at the royal institute of technology (KTH) -91, was drafted for military service in -93 to the Swedish Defense forces 10:th Mechanized battalion as a quartermaster.

Left the military and the KTH -94 and joined the Karolinska Institutet as a medical student instead. Couldn't stay out of research and joined the Institution of Molecular Medicine immediately. Has maintained this contact ever since and learnt a lot about genetics (and Medicine too).

Is also active with the Young Scientists Association in Stockholm. (A small activity nowadays though)

Presentation:

The genetics of common diseases and what to do about them.

What is a common (genetic) disease? What can genetic techniques do to help understand and treat them, and what can not be done? Myth smashing and clarifications all in one, aimed at a audience which is initiated but not in the genebiz
